• Drying Methods: If your filament has absorbed moisture, you can dry it using a dedicated filament dryer, a food dehydrator, a kitchen oven, or even your 3D printer if it’s fully enclosed. For PLA and PLA+ filaments, we recommend drying at a temperature of 40℃ - 45℃ for a minimum of 4 – 6 hours.

Q: Are 3D META's filament spools compatible with Bambu Labs AMS's or any other brand's multi-coloured printing systems? 

A: Yes, all of our spools are compatible with both Bambu Labs AMS systems and similar systems being released by other brands. 

Q: Can 3D META's PLA+ filament be printed at high speed? 

A: Yes, while we also have high-speed PLA available. our PLA+ filament prints perfectly at speeds over 300mm/s. When printing at high speed you may need to increase your print temperature to 240c. 

Q: Can you do custom colours in your PLA+ filament? 

A: Yes, we can create just about any colour, but there is a minimum requirement of 120 rolls. Please get in contact at info@3dmeta.com.au if you'd like to discuss this.

Q: What is PLA+ filament, and how does it differ from regular PLA?

A: PLA+ is an enhanced version of PLA (Polylactic Acid) filament. It includes additional additives that improve its strength, flexibility, and impact resistance compared to regular PLA. PLA+ typically has better layer adhesion and reduced brittleness, which in turn offers better print quality with fewer issues like warping or stringing.

Q: Does PLA+ require a heated bed or an enclosed printer?

A: While PLA+ can be printed without a heated bed, using one set to around 50-60c helps improve adhesion and reduce warping. An enclosed printer is not strictly necessary for PLA+, but it can be beneficial in maintaining a stable printing environment, particularly for larger prints.

Q: Can PLA+ filament be used for functional parts and outdoor applications?

A: PLA+ filament is generally more suitable for functional parts compared to standard PLA due to its improved mechanical properties. However, PLA+ is still not as heat-resistant or durable as some other filaments like ABS or PETG. For outdoor applications, PLA+ may not be ideal as it can degrade with prolonged UV exposure and high temperatures. For such applications, consider filaments specifically designed for durability and UV resistance.
