Privacy Policy
Last updated: 8 September 2026
3D META Pty Ltd (ABN 73 698 972 271) (“3D META”, “we”, “us”, “our”) operates www.3dmeta.com.au and sells 3D printing filament, printers and accessories to customers in Australia and New Zealand. We respect your privacy and handle personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles, and, for New Zealand customers, the Privacy Act 2020 (NZ).
This policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, who we share it with, and how you can access or correct it or make a complaint. It applies to our website, our customer accounts, our email and SMS communications, our social media pages, and orders placed with us directly or through a marketplace.
What we collect
Information you give us. When you place an order, create an account, subscribe to our emails, enter a competition, leave a review, apply for a trade account or contact us, we may collect your name, email address, phone number, delivery and billing addresses, business name and ABN (for trade accounts), order history, the content of your messages, and any other details you choose to provide.
Payment information. Payments are processed by our payment providers (Shopify Payments, Shop Pay, PayPal, Afterpay and Zip). They collect your card or account details directly and we do not see or store your full card number. For bank deposits we see the payer name and reference on our bank statement. Each provider’s own privacy policy applies to the information it collects.
Information collected automatically. When you visit our website we, and the analytics and advertising services we use, collect technical information such as your IP address, device and browser type, the pages you view, how you arrived at our site, and how you interact with it. This is collected using cookies and similar technologies (see “Cookies and online advertising” below).
Information from other sources. If you buy our products through a marketplace such as eBay or JB Hi-Fi Marketplace, that marketplace sends us the details we need to fulfil your order. Our shipping carriers send us delivery status information. If you interact with our pages or advertisements on Facebook, Instagram, TikTok or YouTube, those platforms may share aggregated or limited information with us in accordance with their policies and your settings.
You can browse our website without telling us who you are. If you choose not to provide the information we ask for when ordering, we may not be able to process your order or respond to your request.
How we use your information
We use personal information to:
- process, pack and deliver your orders, and send you order confirmations, shipping updates and receipts;
- provide customer service and technical support;
- manage your account, wishlist, preorders and trade account;
- send you marketing emails and SMS about products, restocks, offers and news, where you have opted in and have not unsubscribed (see “Marketing” below);
- run competitions and giveaways you enter, and contact winners;
- publish product reviews you submit;
- show you relevant advertising on other websites and social media, and measure how our advertising performs;
- understand how our website is used so we can improve it and our product range;
- detect and prevent fraud, and keep our website and systems secure; and
- meet our legal obligations, including tax and consumer law record-keeping, and to establish or defend legal claims.
Who we share it with
We share personal information with service providers who help us run our business, and only for those purposes. They include:
- our e-commerce platform, Shopify, which hosts our website and processes orders and checkout;
- payment providers (Shopify Payments including Shop Pay, Apple Pay and Google Pay; PayPal; Afterpay; Zip);
- shipping software and delivery carriers (including Australia Post, Aramex, Couriers Please and TNT / Team Global Express);
- our inventory management and accounting systems;
- email and SMS marketing platforms;
- website analytics and advertising platforms;
- website tools such as reviews, wishlist and pop-up services;
- our marketing agency, which helps run our social media advertising;
- marketplaces through which you purchase our products (such as eBay and JB Hi-Fi Marketplace); and
- our professional advisers, such as accountants and lawyers.
We may also disclose personal information where the law requires or permits it (for example to a regulator, law enforcement agency or court), to a payment provider or carrier to investigate fraud or a delivery problem, or to a buyer or prospective buyer if we sell or restructure our business.
We do not disclose your details to other businesses for their own marketing, and we never sell personal information.
Overseas disclosure
Some of the service providers listed above store or process information outside Australia — in particular in the United States, Canada, the European Union and New Zealand — because that is where their servers are located. Where we do this we take reasonable steps to ensure the provider protects your information, including by relying on providers that are subject to privacy laws or contractual protections similar to Australia’s.
Cookies and online advertising
Cookies are small files placed on your device by a website. Our website uses:
- essential cookies, which make the site and checkout work (for example, remembering what is in your cart);
- analytics cookies, which help us understand how visitors use the site; and
- advertising cookies and pixels, which allow advertising platforms to show you our advertisements on other sites and apps, and to tell us when an advertisement led to a sale.
You can control cookies through your browser settings, and most browsers let you block or delete them. Blocking essential cookies may stop parts of our website from working. You can opt out of personalised advertising through the ad settings of the platforms you use (for example your Google or Meta account settings), and through the Australian Digital Advertising Alliance at www.youronlinechoices.com.au.
Marketing
If you subscribe on our website, tick the “email me with news and offers” box at checkout or when creating an account, or otherwise ask to hear from us, we will send you marketing emails and, if you have opted in with your mobile number, SMS messages, in accordance with the Spam Act 2003 (Cth). You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any marketing email, by replying STOP to an SMS, or by emailing info@3dmeta.com.au. Unsubscribing does not stop us sending you transactional messages about your orders or account.
Security
We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, interference, loss and unauthorised access, modification or disclosure. Our website is served over HTTPS, access to our systems is restricted to staff and providers who need it, and payment details are handled by PCI DSS compliant payment providers. No method of transmission or storage over the internet is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. If a data breach occurs that is likely to result in serious harm, we will notify you and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner as required by the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme.
How long we keep it
We keep personal information for as long as we need it for the purposes described above. Order and transaction records are kept for at least 5 years after the transaction to meet Australian tax law and consumer law obligations. Marketing data is kept until you unsubscribe or your details have been inactive for an extended period. When information is no longer needed we delete or de-identify it.
Access, correction and deletion
You can access and update most of your details by logging in to your account on our website. You can also ask us to give you access to the personal information we hold about you, to correct it, or to delete it, by emailing info@3dmeta.com.au. We will respond within 30 days and there is no charge for making a request. We may need to verify your identity first. In some cases we are required by law to keep certain records (such as tax records) even after a deletion request, and in limited circumstances the Privacy Act allows us to refuse access or correction; if that happens we will tell you why in writing and how you can complain.
Children
Our website and products are intended for adults. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information without a parent or guardian’s involvement, please contact us and we will delete it.
Complaints
If you have a concern about how we have handled your personal information, please email info@3dmeta.com.au with the details. We will acknowledge your complaint within 7 days and aim to resolve it within 30 days. If you are not satisfied with our response you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (www.oaic.gov.au, 1300 363 992) or, in New Zealand, the Office of the Privacy Commissioner (www.privacy.org.nz).
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The current version will always be published on our website with the date it was last updated. If we make significant changes we will let you know by email or a notice on our website.
