Galactic PETG 3D Printing Filament

3D META's Galactic PETG 3D printing filament delivers the mesmerising colour-shifting effect of our popular Galactic PLA in a tougher, more impact-resistant PETG formulation. As the viewing angle and lighting change, Galactic PETG transitions between vibrant, dynamic hues, giving prints a striking, ever-changing visual character. Built on a premium PETG base, this filament combines that eye-catching aesthetic with the durability, flexibility, and chemical resistance that PETG is known for — making it suitable for both decorative pieces and functional parts you want to look extraordinary. Like all 3D META filaments, Galactic PETG is supplied on recyclable plastic spools and manufactured to strict quality standards.

Key Features of Galactic PETG 3D Printing Filament

Stunning Colour-Shifting Effect: Vivid hue transitions shift with the angle and lighting, giving prints a unique, three-dimensional visual quality.

Manufactured with High-Quality Materials: Premium PETG resin and engineered colour pigments deliver smooth extrusion and consistent colour performance.

Tougher Than PLA: PETG offers better impact resistance, flexibility, and durability than PLA — ideal for prints that need to look great and survive handling.

Excellent Layer Adhesion: Strong inter-layer bonding produces clean, glossy surfaces that show off the colour-shift effect to maximum advantage.

Low Warping and Dimensional Stability: Reliable, accurate prints with minimal shrinkage, even on larger pieces.

Good Chemical and Moisture Resistance: Better suited to humid or outdoor environments than PLA-based decorative filaments.

Strict QA Manufacturing: Every spool is checked for diameter, colour, and print performance before leaving our facility.

Applications for Galactic PETG 3D Printing Filament

Galactic PETG is perfect for anyone who wants to bring a striking visual effect to durable, functional prints:

Artistic and Decorative Models: Vases, sculptures, lamps, and display pieces that come alive with shifting colour.

Cosplay Props and Wearables: Tougher than PLA and visually dynamic — ideal for armour, accessories, and costume pieces.

Unique Gifts and Collectibles: Personalised items that stand out from standard single-colour prints.

Functional Display Items: Desk accessories, organisers, and household objects where you want both function and visual interest.

Event Pieces and Signage: Eye-catching props, signage, and displays for exhibitions, shows, and retail environments.

Note: The colour-shift effect is most visible on prints with curved or layered surfaces and under varied lighting conditions. Glossy surfaces emphasise the effect; matte post-processing will mute it.

Storage and Drying for Galactic PETG Filament

PETG is hygroscopic and prints best when dry:

Store in a Cool, Dry, Dark Environment: Use airtight containers or resealable bags with desiccants between prints.

Drying Recommendations: If moisture is suspected, dry Galactic PETG using a filament dryer, food dehydrator, or enclosed 3D printer at 60–65°C for 4–6 hours.

FAQs:

1.      What's the difference between Galactic PETG and Galactic PLA?

Both offer the same colour-shifting visual effect, but Galactic PETG is tougher, more flexible, and more resistant to impact, heat, and moisture — making it better suited to functional parts, wearables, and outdoor-adjacent uses.

2.      What temperature should I print Galactic PETG at?

Print at 230–250°C with a heated bed at 70–85°C. A slight reduction in cooling fan compared to standard PETG helps preserve glossy surfaces that maximise the colour-shift effect.

3.      Will the colour-shift effect show on all prints?

The effect is most pronounced on curved, multi-faceted, or layered geometries viewed under varied lighting. Flat single-angle prints will still shift colour but the effect will be more subtle.

4.      Can I use Galactic PETG outdoors?

PETG handles moisture and short-term outdoor exposure well, but for prolonged direct UV exposure we recommend a UV-stable material such as ASA. For protected outdoor displays, Galactic PETG performs well.
